giveaway time!

It's about that time for.....a giveaway! Long overdue people. I was unsure of what to giveaway--wanted something good, really good you know? Something that really spoke to you, spoke to me and said 'thank you for being such wonderful, dedicated fans over the years'. Since I know you all are foodies and all love to cook, what better gift to give than $50.00 a gift certificate to Williams Sonoma. Yes, you read right $50.00. I mean if you're going to have a giveaway have a giveaway, right? Oh yes indeedy. And what's best? It's easy to enter. All you need to do is:

- leave a comment on this post telling me what you would like to see Vanilla Sugar 'make or kick up a notch' (tell me as much as your heart desires)

- make sure you're a fan of the Vanilla Sugar Facebook page.

- and if you want to tweet about this giveaway that's good too, but I won't enforce it.

On Friday May 7, 2010 I'll select a random number using the random generator to see who will win. For obvious reasons, anonymous comments don't qualify--please make sure your name, email and/or website are visible in your comment. Good luck and happy cooking!

The above cupcake is my sweet potato & vanilla bean cupcake featured here.

I've always wondered if there was a way to kick up a banana pudding recipe. Every time I make it, I make it the same way every time....

French vanilla pudding (never used banana, I think it's gross)

chopped bananas
milnot canned milk
whipped cream (I whip the cream into the pudding mix)

and of course, the wafers

I do not bake it, just whip, add bananas and cookies and pop it in the fridge.

I would love to see more pastry recipes. I love to cook with it.

Great giveaway! I'm always on the lookout for great, go-to bar cookie recipe. They make a lot of goodies with minimal work. I make cookies for my husband's company to give away at Christmas and, of course, my own. It's also really great when the recipe includes instructions about how to cut the bar cookies so that they look pretty and perfect, without the top caving in, etc. Some need to be cut when they're warm, some need to be refrigerated....it's such a bummer to make a great tasting cookie and then mash the heck out of it trying to cut it into bars. My eaters don't seem to mind, but I just love a beautiful bar cookie!

I have a real sweet tooth and I'm always looking for recipes that aren't so full of fat and calories. But it cant skimp on taste. I made some lemon cream with tofu and it was forrible. But I have a recipe for chocolate silk pie that is made with tofu and I LOVE it!
