Oh yes. Serious food cravings here. Stay with me, don't click away! I know this is odd, but you have to try this. This is the ultimate in salty and sweet. I know a lot of you are devoted foodies, and devoted foodies are open to new things. Right? Good.
And some of you may have already had this combo before and know exactly what I'm talking about.
Seriously good. Make sure you get the good kind of lox, ok? Oh and those krispy kreme donuts? Yeah, those are just PERFECT for this, especially when they are still warm.
I'm telling you....you have to try this.

I can't imagine! But I'll take your word for it and give it a try. :)
ReplyDeletehahah- I saw this post title and said out loud noooo she can't mean that? I agree- salty is VERY good with sweet :) If I ate fish/meat, I'd give it a go ...maybe I'll put a pretzel on top instead :)
ReplyDeletebuns in the oven or what - this is out there for sure but I can see how it would be good!
ReplyDeleteOkay, well, these are two things I love, but never in my wildest imagination would I have combined them! I have to work myself up to this.
ReplyDeleteoh no you didn't!!! hahaha... now I want one just to satisfy my curiosity.
ReplyDeleteYou know I've seen people who've eaten lox with a fruity bagel and creme cheese with pineapple, so this makes sense to me
ReplyDeletei'm gonna have to give this a lot of thought... i mean a LOT
ReplyDeleteThis snack is even more interesting than the snack that I just caught my boyfriend eating... cottage cheese with cheetos on top!
ReplyDelete...
ReplyDelete...
Ok, I have to try it. You're a madwoman.
Oh, Dawn, I freaking love you. I am intrigued and grossed out at once. But mostly DYING to try this!
ReplyDeleteI dunno Dawn, This may be too crazy...even for me. Though I do want to try that burger in the doughnut so I guess this isn't too far off...
ReplyDeleteNothing cures a craving like a good salty and sweet combo. This one is interesting so I need to give it a go. Very creative, Chica.
ReplyDeleteI don't know about this one, Dawn!!
ReplyDeleteYou did it again:)
ReplyDeleteOkay...I have to say this does sound really, really weird. LOL! But I trust you!! Lol!
ReplyDeleteYou did it again:)
ReplyDeleteSounds good to me, will sure try!
ReplyDeleteYou rock - love that :)
ReplyDeleteI totally believe this is amazing and I want to try it!
ReplyDeleteAfter all...I do like dipping fries in ice cream!!
I giggled and said "Really Dawn?"
ReplyDeleteYou are cracking me up! I would NEVER have thought of that combo. Never.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the pie tip!
I dig this. Perfect pairing.
ReplyDeleteEven though I finished my "PMS raid my pantry week" last week..this is still calling my name!
ReplyDeleteI put my sweet and salty up on my blog on Monday(even gave my girl a shout out!!!)
I don't have a clue what Lox tastes like....can you believe that? A NY girl who loves bagels has never had it. I'd be willing to try it though since I love salty sweet and I'm always willing to give anything a try once!
ReplyDeleteSmoked salmon and sugary sweetness from the donut...hmmm, this is as close to Indian candy smoked salmon as you're going to get unless you fly to Vancouver and buy it there.
ReplyDeleteHey I've put proscuitto on mine before so this will be another adventure. Salty sweet rules!!!
ReplyDeleteHaha, I'm staying, I'm staying. I'm not very fond of lox, though. Maybe if it was prosciutto or something :P
ReplyDeleteYou are going to have to bring me one... I am dubious! GREG
ReplyDeletewhatever inspired you to try this, dawn? land sakes. frankly, i want to order this somewhere just to see the look on the cashier's face. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm a big lover of salty and sweet, but I really can't get my head round the sliminess of the salmon atop the doughnut. And the lox wouldn't be salty enough for me. I could see a rasher of crispy smoked bacon working though...
ReplyDeletehmmm. this is interesting...
ReplyDeleteOkay, I love you but NO. Call me closed minded...well sorta. It does LOOK good if I don't know that's a glazed donut! ha!
ReplyDeleteBut there's something about fish and donuts that I just can't do, even though I am a fan of sweet and savory. On the other hand, I applaud and encourage you to keep eating it :-)
I dunno Dawn- strikes me as odd but I sure would try it. Because thats just the kind of crazy I can be. Just call me wild woman (ha).
ReplyDeleteHaha I don't know if I wanna try that one... The sweet and salty combo does sound good though :)
ReplyDeleteOMG, I made something similar this past week but the pics are still in my camera :)
ReplyDeleteI can just imagine how good yours tasted.
I'm all for trying something new! It looks yummy!
ReplyDeletei believe you! there was a maple glazed bacon donut i was tempted to try not too long ago....this is a healthier option - ha.
ReplyDeleteI love sweet & salty but not sure I'm sold here ;)
ReplyDeleteDawn I would do this anyday. Sounds good to me. Anything with a krispie kreme is good! I think there is a place that serves bacon cheese burgers on kripie kremes. Yes I like the frosted poptarts toasted with tons of butter dripping off- my kids think I am weird.
ReplyDeleteDawn, you are a weirdo and I love you. :) I think you are my food craving soul mate.
ReplyDeleteHmmm. Not sure. Just not sure...lol
ReplyDeletebut but i just like sweet stuff! sweet + salty = kind of weird! lol haven really tried that many sweet sour stuff before though :p
ReplyDeleteI am all for the salty sweet combo so this is on my to try!!
ReplyDeleteToo funny. I had a boyfriend in college (yikes...30 years ago) who was from the Midwest and had never seen a bagel. He just couldn't wrap his hands around the concept of a donut made out of bread. He would probably have loved this way of easing himself in! :)
ReplyDeleteSweet and salty together -- I love it!
ReplyDeleteI just keep looking... wondering... not sure...
ReplyDeleteAnd then I remember how annoyed I've been at the fact that I feel like I've tried EVERYTHING, so I think I'm gonna try it! I'll let you know...
I'll eat lox with just about anything! I think you're on to something!
ReplyDeleteI'm a friend of Anna's and just followed a link out to your "quarter pound double chocolate cookies". Then I saw this "lox and glazed donut". I love lox, and sweet and salty -- BAKED brownies made with 12 oz. of bacon plus bourbon pecans, Anna's Frito Candy, etc. Now I need to run out and try this. It might be my new favorite food combo.
ReplyDeleteYou are definitely on to something -- I tried this today. :-) We don't have Krispy Kremes, but I bought a fresh glazed Pershing, took it home, and loaded it up with lox. As I was enjoying it, the thought occurred to me that this really isn't so strange at all. Gravlox is salt and sugar cured salmon. Rubs for salmon on the grill often have brown sugar. So next time I'll enjoy this in public.
ReplyDeletei think it needs a thin slice of red onion in the middle for *crunch*
ReplyDelete:-)
