chocolate-coconut covered Cheez Its

Another crazy craving of sweet and salty then sweet. The salty Cheez It's mixed with the sweet milk chocolate and then the coconutty coconut. Man, I'm telling you, a wonderful little flavor blast happening in the mouth.
I loved these little gems. Easy to make too.
All I did was use the large size Cheez It's, dipped them in good quality milk chocolate (I used ghirardelli), placed on wax or parchment paper and sprinkled with dried coconut (not sweetened coconut too wet, but dried coconut). Pop them in the freezer to harden up. Easy!

  3. I have not had Cheez It's in ages and of course I do not have a dollar to my name to get one from the vending machine. So there they stand taunting me.

Can't disagree about the sweet and salty aspect.

    Very interested in this.....

  10. These look great!!!... but I'm just not sure. I love Cheez-Its, I love chocolate, I love the salty sweet combo like chocolate-covered pretzels... but I just don't know. But if you say they're good, I'll take your word!

  11. Just wanted to say that I recently found your blog and am really excited to starting following!

  12. Oh my Heavens!!!! I know I would like these. Oh they look delicious! This may snap me out of my funk. :)

Mocha is still the same. For awhile she seemed better...not throwing up then last night she threw up 4 times (nothing much) but still wanted to eat this morning and wanted more! I don't get it. She's acting strange. When I'm about to leave she goes under the bed or in her cubby hole in the cat tree. When I'm home and there she is out and about and always right next to me. I'm wondering if she's going through some emotional stuff (ha, like her mom).

As long as the savory isn't too heavy-handed...I do adore the taste contrast.

    ReplyDelete
  21. They sound a bit weird but they look delicious, now I'm dying to try them!

    ReplyDelete

  33. My mom always put salt in desserts and would sprinkle it on fruit -- so my siblings and I are really into sweet/salty sweets. This is a great idea!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Hmmm, I'm all for salty and sweet together, but I don't like Cheez-It's. Maybe I can find another cracker and give that a try?

    ReplyDelete
  35. Cheez-Its and chocolate..be still my heart...and if that wasn't enough-COCONUT! My my my---what a winning combo this one is. And WAY more easier to dip in chocolate than potato chips....they about gave me fits when I made them.
Gotta try these for sure...just need to find the dried coconut.
    Dawn....you're amazing!

    ReplyDelete

  45. This is definitely an interesting recipe. King Arthur Flour has been featuring a lot of surprising recipes lately (I feel like velveeta fudge was one), but as Maria says, I canno knock it until I've tried it.

    ReplyDelete

  51. I have never heard of SUCH! But I can totally see it. I recently posted candied bacon with butter pecan ice cream on my blog, it's the best sweet/salty combo I've EVER tasted!

    ReplyDelete
  52. I'd SOOO eat these! Like, more than a handful too! I'm talking a bowl full... maybe even a large suitcase full!!

My favorite sweet and salty, chocolate-dipped creation is chocolate covered marshmallows. Sprinkle them with some sea salt while the chocolate is still soft... DELISH!

    ReplyDelete
  53. Wow, that is unusual, but I take your word when you say tasty. You are so creative.

    ReplyDelete
  54. So it's pretty much salty, cheesey, chocolate bark :) Pretty neat idea. Remember back when the moon was made of cheese? Sorry random :)

  55. jigga wha?? :) i bet i would pop these into my pie hole way too fast!

  56. Dang, they look good. I have to admit the title scared me a little.

  57. Your experiments always amaze me and this one is gorgeous. If I ever made these, it would corrupt my teenagers forever.

We're still making weekly pizza at home and your last recipe will be incredibly popular in our house.

You're welcome to come visit my chicks anytime! And just so you know, the Mom in me is just like the Mom in you. I'm so terrified of the predators that I may keep my chickens inside my house forever.

At the very least, they won't be going outside until we have the fence sunk in at least 6 inches and create a version of Fort Knox around their pen. And even then, I will feel uneasy.

Also, I just wanted to say thanks...you inspire me always and I really appreciate your comments. Every time one of your blog updates appears in my email, it is such a lovely (much needed) break in my workday - much better than a coffee break.
