This post is chocolate dipped....everything and anything. Chocolate dipped potato chips (you read right), chocolate dipped caramels, chocolate dipped Ritz crackers with peanut butter, and my all time favorite chocolate dipped strawberries.
It's true what they say about salty things taste really good dipped in chocolate. Like pretzels. Everyone loves pretzels dipped in chocolate. But have you ever had salty potato chips dipped in milk chocolate?
Hmmm. I have and I can't get enough of them. The first time I saw this concoction was at a homemade candy store in
Chatham, Ma about 4 years ago (not too far from my home). They had double stuff
Oreo's dipped in milk chocolate, salty hearty pretzels dipped in milk chocolate then dipped again in white chocolate then a swirl of peanut butter
ganache. :::sigh::: Then I saw the milk chocolate dipped potato chips and knew I had to try one. It was such a satisfying flavor of creamy milky sweet chocolate with the instant bite of salty. I was hooked on them, but fast learned to make my own since they charged some insane price of $3.09 a pound.

Another wonderful treat to try is two Ritz crackers filled with peanut butter (like a sandwich) then dipped in milk chocolate. Crazy good. I make these during the holidays to give away to clients and friends. They always love them, and it's
relatively an inexpensive way to give a gourmet food gift to those special friends and clients we love. Last Christmas I made over 300 of these...and every single one was devoured. I love love love to hear and see my friends and family and even clients devour my food creations. To make the chocolate dipped peanut butter smores, just take two graham crackers spread with pb, then a layer of marshmallow fluff, let harden in the fridge, then dip in chocolate. Easy!
Those should be illegal - they look too luscious.
ReplyDeleteThose look fantastic!! YUUUM. I really like the cracker+pb+chocolate idea.. I'll have to try that!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tips about the hummus, too!!! That sounds SO good!

ReplyDeleteHas the Surgeon General declared anything yet on your post and blog?! ^_^
Because of you I've started to dream everything covered in chocolate - my innocent marmalade toast, my couch, the stereo, my friend's dog...
For all the baking and cooking I do, I've never made chocolate dipped anything!!!! This post will remedy that! What is your favorite kind of chocolate for dipping?
ReplyDeleteI think it's a perfect idea! First of all, I LOVE the sweet and salty combination, especially with a crunchy texture, and second of all, who says there is anything that can't be dipped in chocolate and still taste good?
ReplyDeleteI'll take a dozen of each one. And then some. I am drooling all over my computer looking at your great recipes. Now I have lots of baking to do.
ReplyDeleteAh! That time is almost upon us again! Thanks for the tips :) For some reason, $3 a pound for chocolate-covered potato chips doesn't sound very unreasonable to me. Everything looks really good, and though I haven't tried CC Potato Chips, I'm developing a craving for them now!
ReplyDeleteWOW - what a great idea! I'm totally going to try out those ritz crackers/PB/chocolate sometime!
ReplyDeleteIngenious, I'm sure I would love them all. How do you come up with these ideas.
ReplyDeleteOMG, i wish you'd posted these last week! I couldn't for the life of me satisfy my sweet/salty cravings. I was going crazy!
ReplyDeleteDear Lord, help me to not immediately run to the store and buy every single thing in this post.
You are a genius, Dawn!
